Avigail Gordon, PhD
Psychotherapy and Evaluations
About Avigail
I am a clinical psychologist working with adults, couples, and clinicians in depth-oriented psychotherapy, supervision, and consultation. My work is grounded in careful clinical thinking, relational understanding, and attention to how patterns develop and persist over time.
Across settings, I focus on helping people make sense of complex emotional, relational, and clinical material — particularly when situations feel stuck, intense, or difficult to hold alone. I value work that is thoughtful, steady, and responsive to nuance rather than driven by technique or quick solutions.

Clinical orientation
My approach is informed by psychodynamic and relational traditions, with attention to development, attachment, and the ways earlier experiences shape present-day patterns. I work collaboratively and actively, bringing clinical judgment and reflection to the process while making space for complexity to emerge and be understood.
I am especially drawn to work that requires integration: holding multiple perspectives, tolerating uncertainty, and staying engaged with difficult material long enough for something new to become possible.
Experience & professional background
I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology and completed my doctoral internship and postdoctoral training at the William Alanson White Institute. I am licensed as a psychologist in New York and New Jersey and am registered with the Pinkas HaPsychologim in Israel. In addition to my clinical work, I have taught graduate-level clinical and theoretical courses at New York University, including trauma, couples and family therapy, and advanced practicum and internship seminars.
I have worked in a range of clinical and institutional settings and currently maintain a private practice alongside supervision and consultation work. I regularly work with clinicians navigating complex cases and professional questions and remain engaged in ongoing learning, teaching, and professional dialogue.
A note on fit
My work tends to be a good fit for people and clinicians who value depth, reflection, and careful thinking, and who are open to a process that unfolds over time. I am less focused on manualized approaches or symptom-only treatment, and more interested in understanding the meaning and structure of what is happening.
